Easy Living in Brookings
We spent a lovely week living across the street from the ocean in Brookings, Oregon, which is pretty close to the Oregon/California border.
We stayed in an Airbnb owned by my sister, Jill, and brother-in-law Mike. Since it’s half of a duplex and they live on the other side, it was super convenient for us to get to spend time with them. They did tell me they work hard to stay out of the way of their other guests though, who don’t have to see them at all unless they want to (since the place is fully automated).
We got to see the before photos and I’m in awe of the complete remodel they did — from the floors to the ceiling and everything in between. They’re both real estate agents, Mike is a contractor and Jill has always had a talent for construction and interior design so we knew it would be absolutely lovely. Even so, we were still surprised by the attention to detail.
You can bring the whole family since there are two floors; three bedrooms; two and a half bathrooms; room for dogs and barbecuing; and plenty of parking. One of the downstairs bedrooms has plenty of games, as well as baby furniture in case you have a little one.
The kitchen is fully stocked not only with any appliances you could possibly need but also with all of the spices. It was lovely living in a place where we didn’t have to leave to eat or to work. I thought it was better for Clay to do this video so we could properly describe the kitchen.
The canvas artwork throughout are almost all photos Jill and Mike have taken themselves and they’re absolutely gorgeous. There were electrical outlets everywhere, including in the tops of tables; they had a white noise machine in the primary bedroom; and even an EV charger. Since we’ve been living in Airbnbs for the last year, I thought we might have some advice for them on how to make it better, but we did not. You can tell they’ve lived in it themselves to make sure everything was taken care of.
Best of all, it’s walking distance to the absolutely stunning Harris Beach and a quick drive just about anywhere else we wanted to go.
We’re not just saying this because we’re related to them — this place is at the top of the list of all the Airbnbs we’ve lived in over the last year. And the 5.0 scores on Airbnb back us up!
We highly recommend a visit to Brookings and plan to stay in this beautiful house, which is located on Easy Street. Yes, for real.
